Berlin, 22 February 2019 – home24, the leading online platform for Home & Living in Continental Europe and Brazil, today opened a mega outlet with an integrated showroom in Cologne-Marsdorf (Max-Planck-Strasse 7). On a sales and logistics area of approx. 8000 sqm spread over four floors, customers can now find a wide range of furniture, lamps and home accessories that changes on a weekly basis. The exhibits, photo samples and returns, which show little or no damage, are available with price advantages of up to 80 percent discount compared to the regular online price. At the start the Cologne Outlet Store offers more than 5,000 articles, which can be taken home directly after purchase or delivered at a reasonable price.
"Price-conscious customers will certainly find what they are looking for when searching for a bargain in the new outlet," says Christoph Cordes, Co-CEO of home24. "At the same time, home24 also benefits from this because we will be able to market returned goods decentralized in the future and thus reduce costs."
The new mega outlet in Cologne benefits from a large catchment area in which around 3.5 million people live. In addition, the building is located directly on the much frequented A4 and is therefore well connected. home24 now operates four outlets in Germany. Cologne and Neu-Ulm are cities with large mega outlets. In Berlin and Bottrop, customers are offered a high-quality and tasteful product portfolio on a slightly smaller area.
In Cologne, home24 is integrating a showroom into an outlet for the first time, offering customers an additional shopping experience on a total area of 350 sqm. Trained furnishing experts support customers in their purchasing decisions. Customers can place their orders either directly in the showroom via an order terminal or at a later point in time conveniently online at home (www.home24.de) or via App.
Showrooms are an important part of home24's multi-channel strategy. The personal exchange with customers in the showrooms creates an additional incentive to order furniture online from now on and establishes home24 as the first destination for online Home & Living. In addition to the newly opened showroom in the outlet in Cologne, home24 currently operates nine other showrooms in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt/Main, Dusseldorf, Stuttgart, Vienna and Zurich.
